The dress code for our wedding is black tie optional! If you enjoy dressing up, we’d love to see you in a tuxedo or elegant gown. But if you prefer a more laid-back approach, a suit or cocktail dress is also a great choice! The Detroit Yacht Club does have rules on attire for being inside the building; No hats, jeans, ripped clothing, or bathing suits.

Unless you are a member of the wedding party, We recommend arriving approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony begins to allow time for parking and finding your seat. The ceremony will be starting promptly at 4pm. If you are late, access will be denied into the ceremony and you can join the fun at cocktail hour.

Although we love your little ones, the wedding is an adults only evening. Please make it a date night. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Unfortunately, we have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our celebration is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation.

Our ceremony and reception will be taking place indoors away from any bad weather that could occur. May in Michigan can be tricky with weather and our cocktail hour will take place on a covered veranda if weather permitting, so please feel free to wear any layers if necessary.

The ceremony and reception will both take place in the Grand Ballroom. Upon entrance at the front door, you may head up the large staircase and straight out the doors to the veranda. Please take a right and follow the veranda until reaching the open doors to the ceremony. After cocktail hour you will be ushered back into those doors for the reception.

Yes, the venue is easily accessible for anyone in a wheel chair or who need help with stairs. There is an elevator on the main floor near the mens restroom. Anyone may use it at any time. The entirety of the event will be on the second floor of the building.

Immediately following the ceremony, guests will be asked to head to the veranda to enjoy cocktail hour, until ushered back indoors for the reception.

Detroit Yacht Club has a large parking lot upon immediate entrance which is free and accessible to all. There is also a valet service for $5 per car. All vehicles parked at DYC are allowed to stay overnight.
